Welcome to my website. My name is Marie Deegan and I am one of the Talent Development teachers at Elon Park Elementary.
I am delighted to teach and learn from your children this year. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express
my excitement about working with you and your child. I am looking forward to a challenging and productive year together!
I began my career in 2002 as a regular classroom teacher. I joined CMS in 2004 and have been working specifically with the
T.D./Catalyst children at Elon Park since 2011. I graduated from Saint Joseph’s College (N.Y.) in 2002 with a Bachelor's degree
in Child Study and completed my Master's degree in the Academically and Intellectually Gifted program with the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.
My husband is an academic facilitator at Windsor Park Elementary. Our son, Colin, is 7 years old and is also an Elon Park Eagle like his mommy.
My primary goal as a T.D. teacher is to create learning opportunities that challenge students and allow them to be active participants
in their education. To do this effectively, I believe it is imperative to communicate and collaborate with teachers, parents, and students
so that differentiated instruction can be purposeful and meaningful for our gifted children.
